I first began dabbling in learning design at a mere 10 years old, when I wrote a 4-page quiz for my fellow 5th grade classmates on... Pokémon.
Needless to say, that wasn't my best work. Since then, however, I've worked in corporate training and Kindergarten-to-adult education in Japan and the States. Most recently, I've been designing technical training for all the wonderful people and partners at Brivo.
Though my work spanned from the idyllic Japanese countryside all the way to bustling American cities, the need for purposeful, regular communication remained the same. The authentic relationships I build with my peers, subject matter experts, and stakeholders serve as the foundation for my work to be effective and the day-to-day to be enjoyable.
In working across vastly different cultures, I've also realized that empathy is key to creating meaningful learning experiences. Finding out my learners' strengths, challenges, and goals not only allows me to appreciate each learner's unique value, but also design learner-centric solutions that are engaging at a personal level.
Outside of work, I love to lift weights, spend quality time with family and friends, and go outside to watch the clouds. My four years in Japan have given me a love for its countryside as well.
Below are a few pictures I took while living in Japan. Please enjoy!
